Abstract of Christian Persecution in Indonesia

__________________________________________________________

Indonesia is home to over 34.6 million Christians, making it a significant minority in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country.

Despite constitutional guarantees of religious freedom, Christians face systemic discrimination, social exclusion, and violence.

Persecution manifests in various forms, including social ostracism, threats, physical attacks, and legal restrictions.

Local authorities often deny building permits for churches, circumventing legal protections for minority believers.

Anti-blasphemy laws are frequently used to silence Christians and other religious minorities, contributing to their oppression.
