Christ’s Infinite Mercy

“One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” He replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”  (Luke 23:39-43)

The criminals’ behavior is a singular instance of Humanity’s response to Christ’s Infinite Mercy, and the article Christ’s Mother and Divine Mercy narrates the Blessed Mary’s confirmation of Christ’s Infinite Mercy. Yet, He bluntly warned Sister Faustina, on February 17, 1937, about the consequences of our response to His Infinite Mercy.

“Souls perish in spite of My bitter passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity, Secretary of My mercy, write, tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near.”  (Diary 965)
