Exhortation to Faithfulness

“Therefore, we must attend all the more to what we have heard, so that we may not be carried away. For if the word announced through angels proved firm, and every transgression and disobedience received its just recompense, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? Announced originally through the Lord, it was confirmed for us by those who had heard. God added his testimony by signs, wonders, various acts of power, and distribution of the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to his will.” (Hebrews 2:1-4)

The Heavenly Father begotten His son, Jesus Christ, higher than the angels and He has spoken to us after the prophets of the Old Testament. The author contrasts the word announced through angels with the more powerful word of Christ. His supremacy must strengthen Christian Faith to prevent us from falling into Apostasy. The Heavenly Father confirmed His testimony through Christ’s signs, wonders and power and the Holy Spirit’s Gifts and Fruits.

Let’s Pray:

Lord, I wish to believe in Thee.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved, and let it penetrate my thought, my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit, and dispose it for prayer with God and conversation with men, so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.
Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit,
and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition and to the authority of the magisterium of the Holy Church.
