Sister Lucia confirmed apparitions of Medjugorje. The visionary’s nephew, Father Salinho, a Salesian priest in Portugal, reported she continued receiving visions of the Virgin Mary after 1917, and she informed Sister Lucia about Medjugorje.

The French author Sister Emmanuel Maillard has documented the report of Father Salinho in the book Medjugorje, Triumph of the Heart! (Queenship, 2004), and in a revised edition of the book, Medjugorje: the 90s. Pope John Paul II met with Sister Emmanuel, and he believed Medjugorje completed Fatima. The pope met Sister Lucia in Fatima, on May 13, 1982, and proclaimed Medjugorje is the continuation and completion of Fatima in 1984.
