Interaction with the Holy Spirit

I had meditated about the gifts of the Holy Spirit during my Eucharistic Hour, on June 8, 2012, and the following metaphor emerged: we are wind turbines and the Holy Spirit is the wind. It blows the turbine whenever and whatever the wind wants … the turbine is surrendered to the wind.

When we surrender to the Holy Spirit, He grants us his gifts as He pleases and we become his instruments, because we relinquish our intellect and our will to his control. Saint Thomas Aquinas stated: the gifts of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and counsel direct our intellect, while fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord direct our will. The Holy Spirit can renew the face of the Earth if we surrender to him.

The day after the Eucharistic Hour, I awaked under mixed emotions while I heard a loud, clear and unequivocal voice: “your suffering is your treasure.”  I realized  it was a message of the Holy Spirit.
