Faith

Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God, all that He has said and revealed to us and the Holy Church proposes to us, because God is truth itself. “The righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17), because faith leads to a total commitment to God.

Faith is supernatural because we cannot acquire it by ourselves, but we can increase our faith by prayer and continual exercise. “Increase our faith” (Luke 17:5), prayed the apostles. Our faith must be firm, complete and encompassing, because if we are doubtful or deny some truths then we deny God and His authority.

Christians must profess, bear witness and spread the faith. “Everyone who acknowledges Me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies Me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.” (Matthew 10:32-33) “Faith apart from works is dead.” (James 2:26)
